Students named to Dean’s List at UMGC

ADELPHI, Md. — Three Tampa Bay area students have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maryland Global Campus for the fall 2025 term.

To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Performing Arts Academy wins national dance award

PALM HARBOR — Students at local children’s theater The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy brough home an Excellence in Dance trophy from the recent Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta.

The award was one of only 12 given to the participating teams, which represented nearly 150 theaters and schools, and more than 7,000 students from the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Poland.

Some 19 TBPAA students ranging from ages 7 to 17 performed a 15-minute segment of the Disney musical, Beauty and the Beast, Jr. Directors Lisa Cane and Kimberly Kreiner-Snyder had rehearsals once a week since August for the students involved, where they learned choreography, vocal prep, and homed in on how to become their character, whether it be candlestick, clock, or a Beast.

In addition to performing, the children got to attend a variety of workshops and special events hosted at the event, including seeing premieres of snippets from brand-new musical theater shows.

Palm Harbor student named to Miami Dean’s List

OXFORD, Ohio — Lauren Gualtieri of Palm Harbor has been named to the Dean’s list at Miami University for the 2025 fall semester.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top 20% of undergraduate students within their division for the 2025 spring semester have been named to the Dean’s list recognizing academic performance.

Woman’s Club sets grants for community groups

CLEARWATER — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs / North Pinellas Woman’s Club is now accepting applications for its 2026 Community Grants. This year, seven grants of $2,000 each will be awarded to local 501(c)(3) organizations leading projects that strengthen and support local communities.

These grants are made possible through the longstanding success of the club’s signature fundraiser, the Christmas Under the Oaks Arts Holiday Market, a beloved Clearwater tradition, now in its 50th year.

Volunteers sought for food giveaway

TARPON SPRINGS — Volunteers are sought to work in an assembly line format to put food in bags at Mt. Moriah AME Church, 722 S. Disston Ave.

Work is performed on the last Friday of each month starting at 12:15 p.m. The food is distributed to the community on the last Saturday of each month, starting at 10 a.m.
