Cooley Law School welcomed 30 new students to its Tampa Bay campus during the evening program orientation for the spring semester.
Orientation was held January 9 and included the administration of the professionalism oath by Hillsborough County Circuit Court Judge Nick Nazarian. The oath requires students to adhere to Cooley’s Honor Code, which serves as the official guide to student conduct and behavior while in law school.
Incoming students also participated in discussions with current students, who shared advice on preparing for classes, effective study techniques, and ways to fully engage in the law school experience. Additional sessions included “Introduction & Learning Techniques” with President and Dean James McGrath, “Preparing for Class with Dean’s Fellows,” and “How and Why to Read and Brief Cases,” led by Cooley faculty and staff.
The orientation concluded with a pinning ceremony honoring incoming students and welcoming them into the profession and study of law. The pin symbolizes each student’s professional persona as a lawyer in training.
Students beginning in January at Cooley Law School’s Tampa Bay campus attend classes Monday through Friday during the evenings.
