Florida State men’s basketball returns to the Donald L. Tucker Center on Wednesday, Jan. 28, as the Seminoles host Cal.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs in Tallahassee, and only the third meeting overall, with the series tied at one win each. Cal won the last meeting between the two, 77-68, last season, the first year that the Golden Bears played in the ACC.

The Seminoles (8-12, 1-6 ACC) are coming off an 83-80 loss to SMU in Dallas. Despite the game being played on Saturday, FSU went to Dallas on Thursday and didn’t return to Tallahassee until Monday due to ice and snow from the winter storm that blanketed half the country.

Robert McCray V leads the Seminoles’ scoring efforts with 14.3 points per game, and he leads the ACC in total assists with 130 total, and he averages 6.5 assists per game. He is one of four FSU players averaging double figures, with Chauncey Wiggins (11.6 PPG), LaJae Jones (11.1 PPG) and Kobe MaGee (10.1 PPG) the others.

Cal is 15-5 and 3-4 in conference play, and most recently beat Stanford 78-66. The Golden Bears are led by junior guard Dai Dai Ames, who is averaging 17.1 PPG. Alongside him, Cal has three other players scoring in double figures with Justin Pippen averaging 14.8 PPG, John Camden averaging 14 PPG, and Chris Bell averaging 12.8 PPG.

The game against Cal kicks off a run of four home games in the next six for the Seminoles. FSU will welcome Stanford following the Cal game.
