ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WTSP) – Police in Florida are investigating after a teenage girl found her 4-year-old brother stabbed to death and her mother with injuries at the family’s home.
St. Petersburg Police say a 16-year-old girl arrived home from school just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and found her 4-year-old brother, Finley Joseph Cullom, stabbed to death. She then called police.
The siblings’ mother was also injured with stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital for the injuries, which were not life-threatening, and remained there as of Tuesday night, officials said.
Based on their preliminary investigation, police believe the mother stabbed her son. It’s not clear if the wounds the mother had were self-inflicted.
Police say the 16-year-old found a note in the house, which they believe was written by the mother. What the note said has not been released.
Police were interviewing both the victim’s mother and father.
