MADISON, Fla. (WCTV) – A former Madison police officer was sentenced to 35 years in prison Wednesday for sexually abusing a minor under the age of 12 in June.
Robert Mincks was sentenced shortly after entering a guilty plea on a charge of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child.
During the court proceeding Wednesday, the former police officer told the judge, “I am taking responsibility for my actions, which is why I’m signing the plea.”

He was also sentenced to lifetime sex offender probation and will be designated as a sexual predator.
The sentencing follows Mincks’ arrest in June 2025 for sexually abusing a child who was 11 years old at the time of the incident. He was terminated from the Madison Police Department on the same day as his arrest, where he had worked since September 2023, Lt. William Sircy told WCTV.
