TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Texas deputy who was arrested in a Leon County Sheriff’s Office undercover investigation into child sex crimes made his first court appearance on Tuesday in Houston.
LCSO says Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant John Black chatted online with a detective posing as a 13-year-old.
Black faces multiple charges, including distribution of obscene material to a minor, unlawful use of a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child and unlawful use of a two-way communications device, according to the sheriff’s office.

Judge David M. Fleischer set a $20,000 bond for Black, but issued a stern warning.
“As soon as you get out, you go back to Florida. You understand?”
“Yes, sir,” Black replied.
“If I find any violations, I’m gonna yank this bond on a moment’s notice,” the judge said.
Texas jail records show Black has bonded out, but Leon County Jail records show he has not arrived yet.
WCTV’s CBS affiliate in Houston reports Black has been temporarily relieved of duty while his sheriff’s office conducts an internal investigation.
He’s worked for the law enforcement organization since 2003.
