Florida State‘s running backs coach Kam Martin is been working like a madman to secure talent for the Seminoles in the 2027 recruiting cycle. After visiting blue-chip recruit Caden Waye in Georgia, Martin made his way to the state of Texas on Wednesday morning.

He linked up with another blue-chip prospect. It was Waco Midway High School star Lathan Whisenton. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder tipped his hat to Martin via social media.

“Thanks for coming over today! @TeamKamMartin @FSUFootball,” Whisenton wrote.

Whisenton is the No. 295 player nationally and the No. 22 running back according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 42 prospect in the state of Texas.

His sophomore year was a good one in 2024. Whisenton ran for 1,286 yards and scored 18 touchdowns, and he added another 81 receiving yards. He would rush for 1,502 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior while also racking up 102 yards receiving.

FSU extended an offer to Whisenton earlier this month. However, he hasn’t taken a visit yet.
