FSU celebrates International Lego Day

  • January 29, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Today’s something good is Florida State University students getting creative, celebrating International Lego Day!

Bricks of all shapes and sizes had the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences buzzing on Wednesday afternoon.

More good news:

Lego bricks were patented on this day in 1958. Dr. Dina Vyortkina with the college says the bricks remain a great, tangible way to fuel creativity for kids and adults alike.

“For those parents and educators who are concerned about over-reliance on screens, Lego is a perfect example of when you don’t need it. You can work with the instruction card, or you can just play with your imagination,” Vyortkina said.

She also said Lego encourages kids to take risks and improves troubleshooting skills.
