LARGE CROSS IN PLACE AND ALSO SECURE NEARBY WALLS. WELL, FOLKS, WE’VE BEEN SAYING IT ALL WEEK LONG, BUT THIS WEATHER WE’RE DEALING WITH IS TRULY HISTORIC. YEAH. WHILE THERE IS NO RECORD OF ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL IN THE ORLANDO AREA, WE HAVE SEEN SOME WINTRY PRECIPITATION OVER THE YEARS. THAT’S WHAT WE’RE CALLING IT. THE FIRST REPORTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DATE BACK 49 YEARS TO JANUARY OF 1977. THERE WERE SNOW FLURRIES AND SLEET REPORTED ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA, INCLUDING THE ORLANDO AREA. SO THEN 12 YEARS LATER IN 1989, A SNOWSTORM SLAMMED THE NORTHEAST TWO DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. THIS PICTURE SHOWS JUST HOW MUCH SNOW FELL IN NORTH CAROLINA. BUT HERE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, THERE WERE REPORTS OF SNOW FLURRIES AND ICE PELLETS IN AND AROUND THE ORLANDO AREA. AND DURING THIS WEEK IN 2003, OCEAN EFFECT SNOW OCCURRED ALONG THE COAST FROM FLAGLER BEACH TO FORT PIERCE AND AS FAR INLAND AS THE NORTH END OF NOVA ROAD IN EASTERN ORANGE COUNTY. IN 2006, A LIGHT RAIN MIXED WITH SNOW FLURRIES ACROSS PORTIONS OF VOLUSIA, SEMINOLE, AND ORANGE COUNTIES. THAT HAPPENED TWO DAYS BEFORE THANKSGIVING, AND IN 2010, SLEET FELL FROM POINCIANA TO PALM BAY. I REMEMBER THIS IT COULD BE SEEN ON CARS AND ROOFS. THERE WAS ALSO A REPORT OF SNOWFALL TRACES IN ORLANDO AND MOST RECENTLY ON CHRISTMAS DAY IN 2022, SLEET FELL
