  • January 29, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KLTV) – A Jacksonville man is wanted by Cherokee County deputies after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) removed a potential pipe bomb from his home.

Charles Phifer, 42, of Jacksonville, is currently wanted by Cherokee County deputies for warrants charging him with failure to appear, with additional charges expected after finding the presumed explosive device while executing a search warrant at his residence in the 200 block of County Road 1814 in Jacksonville, according to a press release.

During the search, deputies also found methamphetamine, guns, and marijuana before the ATF responded and safely removed the device from the home, according to a press release.

While Phifer was not at the home during the time of the search, deputies arrested another man at the home, who was found to have a warrant for assaulting a family member, according to a press release.
