Forecast chances going up for flurries in Florida

  • January 30, 2026

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Latest hi-res forecast model is now showing a 10-20% chance of some flurries for our area late Saturday night through early Sunday morning. Here is a movie of this latest model.

Not everyone will see the snow if we get any but some may see a few snowflakes during this time frame.

Similar to the lake effect snow that we see over the Great Lakes strong NW winds will pick up low level moisture from the Gulf and possibly change it over to snow or a mix for our area.

We are not expecting the snow to stick on the ground so don’t expect to make snowballs at this time.

This cold front has prompted the National Weather Service to issue an Extreme cold watch, Freeze watch and Gale watch for our area. Winds on Saturday will be 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph at times.

We could see record lows on Sunday morning and Monday morning. Wind chill could be as low at 20 degrees on Sunday morning.
