Robert ‘Bob’ Joseph Kraft
OBITUARY
Robert Bob Kraft, 93, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida. A man of deep commitment, Bob was a devoted husband to his wife of 68 years, Marlene, and a loving father to his daughter, Christine.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Pauline and Robert Kraft, Bob remained a lifelong resident of the area for most of his years. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Upon returning to Scranton, Bob began a distinguished 40-year career with The Bell Telephone Company. He often shared fond memories of his early days as a Lineman climbing poles, eventually transitioning to Installer and later a PBX Installation Technician. Beyond the work itself, Bob cherished the lifelong camaraderie of his colleagues, enjoying many years of parties, restaurant gatherings, and get-togethers.
Bob’s life was defined by service. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, contributing to projects focused on youth, the environment, and senior care. He also dedicated countless hours to the Special Olympics. After relocating to Cape Coral, Florida, he continued his civic-mindedness by joining the German American Social Club, where he served two terms as President. One of the greatest highlights of his later years was the joy of organizing and working the annual Cape Coral Oktoberfest.
When he wasn’t serving others, Bob found peace at his cottage at Gouldsboro Lake. He spent summers in his rowboat, fishing, gardening, and grilling – moments of relaxation he cherished with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene; his daughter, Christine and her husband Robert; and his two granddaughters.
