A Pinellas County woman is facing a DUI manslaughter charge in connection to a crash that killed a pedestrian in Madeira Beach on Friday night.
The crash occurred about 9 p.m. Friday near 150th Avenue and Madeira Way. Michael Arndt, 72, was in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2022 Jeep Wrangler driven by Vanessa Downs, 51, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Arndt was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Downs “showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests” and was arrested, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
She was released from the Pinellas County Jail Saturday morning on $75,000 bail, records show.
