MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Martin County teacher, Matthew Theobald, who was suspended without pay for allegedly calling political activist Charlie Kirk a “racist” and “fear-mongering neo-Nazi,” is seeking a fair hearing.

Theobald’s lawyer sent a letter to the Martin County School District Superintendent, requesting that school board recuse themselves from the upcoming termination hearing and appoint an independent hearing officer instead.

The letter aims to ensure an impartial process for Theobald.

The suspension followed comments made by Theobald on Facebook, which were discussed at the last school board meeting.
