Florida driver’s license exams to be English-only starting February 6

  • January 31, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Starting Friday, February 6, all knowledge and skills exams for a Florida driver’s license will only be in English.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced the change applies to all driver’s license classifications, including exams administered orally.

Until now, most non-commercial driver license classifications were offered in multiple languages. Commercial license knowledge exams had been in English and Spanish.

FLHSMV has updated its driver license testing system statewide, and translators will no longer be available.
