TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCJB) – Governor Ron DeSantis is announcing statewide events to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary, and some are in our area.
“We are planning a series of events, exhibits, and opportunities statewide for Floridians to celebrate the ‘Spirit of ’76.’ Florida is proud to lead with celebrations that promote civic virtue, historical education, and patriotic pride,” said Governor DeSantis.
The Florida Department of Transportation is partnering with NASCAR for a race called “America 250 Florida Duel at Daytona.”
Admission is also waived for state parks from Feb. 13 through Feb. 16, in honor of George Washington’s birthday.
The governor identified what he calls “14th Colony Heritage Sites & America 250 Florida Road Trip” stops, including Payne’s Prairie and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park.
