ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Several weather-related crashes have been reported in Onslow County today, where a few inches of snow already accumulated.
As of 5 p.m., officials have reported 29 crashes since 12:30 p.m., along with 3.75 inches of snow in the county.
The Highway 17 bypass in Jacksonville and Wilson Boulevard at the Wilson Gate closed earlier but has reopened.
County officials advise everyone to avoid traveling unless necessary to reduce the number of crashes.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, seven motor graters are working in Onslow County to help maintain road conditions.
As a reminder, all flights in and out of the Albert J. Ellis airport are canceled today.
Onslow County is currently under a state of emergency and also has a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily until further notice.
