ORLANDO, Fla. – Multiple weather alerts have been issued for Orlando and Central Florida as dangerously cold temperatures and strong winds impact the region for the next several days.

Wind Advisory: 3 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday

Freeze Warning: 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Sunday

What is an extreme cold warning?

According to the National Weather Service, an extreme cold warning is issued when “extremely dangerous cold conditions or wind chill values are expected or occurring.” Wind chills could be a low as 8 degrees, significantly below freezing.

It is the first time that an extreme cold warning has been issued in Central Florida, according to the FOX 35 Storm Team.

It will be cold, but not extremely cold. Temperatures expected to dip into the 40s.

Saturday

There will be scattered rain and showers in the morning. By Saturday afternoon, the skies could clear, and the winds pick up. Expect wind gusts between 30-45 mph.

Late Saturday afternoon and evening, the temperatures begin to quickly plummet. Temperatures will go from the 40s to the 30s between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wind chills will go from 30s to the 20s between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Sunday – Coldest temperatures are here

Due to the wind chill, temperatures will be between 5-15 degrees on Sunday morning at 7 a.m. Afternoon highs are expected to be in the 30s and 40s.

The record high and low for Sunday, Feb. 1 is 48 and 28 (set in 1893).

When does the cold end?

Temperatures should begin to warm up by the end of the week – into the 70s.
