The crash happened on Monday afternoon on westbound I-4 at I-75 in Hillsborough County.

TAMPA, Fla. — A man died and three others were seriously injured after three cars collided on I-4 in Hillsborough County.

It happened when traffic slowed on the highway just before 2 p.m. on Monday near I-75. A Ford F-250 failed to stop, colliding into the back of a Jeep Cherokee, which collided with the back of a Kenworth dump truck. 

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the 34-year-old man driving the Jeep was seriously injured, along with a 32-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman who were in the car. A 34-year-old man who was also a passenger died from his injuries. 

The driver of the Ford had a minor injury, and the dump truck driver wasn’t injured, according to a news release.

The crash snarled traffic on the westbound lanes, but the crash has since been cleared.Â
