Frigid Monday: Temps drop into the 20s and 30s in Central Florida; warm-up ahead

HERE WE GO. WHAT A GENTLEMAN. OKAY, LISTEN, IT’S COLD FOR. I MEAN, IT’S GOING TO BE COLD FOR. WE’RE IN FEBRUARY. IT’S COLD. COME ON. WEDNESDAY. FRIGID SETUP IS GOING TO BE ON ITS WAY OUT. AND THANKFULLY, WE’RE AT LEAST GOING TO BE GETTING A LITTLE BIT BETTER. OKAY, SO LET’S TALK ABOUT HOW BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, THE CHANGE COMES AND WE’RE BACK TO ABOUT 70 DEGREES OR SO, DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE. FOR EXAMPLE, IN ORLANDO, 73 DEGREES, WHICH BY THE WAY, IS OUR AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE. WE’VE JUST BEEN RUNNING SO BELOW AVERAGE HERE, 71 BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON IN OCALA AND INTO THE LOWER 70S, EVEN MID 70S OVER TO PALM BAY. BUT TO GET THERE, WE’VE GOT SOME STEPS TO TAKE. SO THIS MORNING, DANGEROUSLY COLD TEMPERATURES WITHD CHILLS EVEN COLDER, WHICH MEANS FOR YOU AND I, GETTING READY FOR WORK AND GETTING THE KIDS READY FOR SCHOOL, WE HAVE GOT TO THINK. LAYERS. IT’S GOING TO BE CHILLY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, A LITTLE MILDER THAN YESTERDAY, BUT STILL CHILLY. AND THEN TOMORROW INTO WEDNESDAY WILL START TO BUILD ON THAT. BUT TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA JUST HOW COLD THIS LITTLE CHAPTER WAS THIS MORNING, WE’RE NOT AT 24 DEGREES. YESTERDAY MORNING WE WERE AT 24 DEGREES. OKAY, YESTERDAY WAS THE COLDEST MORNING IN ORLANDO IN 16 YEARS. BUT TO PUT IT INTO PERSPECTIVE, WE WEREN’T ALL THAT FAR OFF FROM THE ALL TIME COLDEST IN ORLANDO, WHICH WAS 18 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1894. TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, ALL THE REST OF CENTRAL FLORIDA, WITHIN A FEW DEGREES OF OUR ALL TIME RECORD TEMPERATURES. WE DIDN’T SET A NEW ONE, BUT IT WAS DEFINITELY COLD ENOUGH. NOW WE LOOK OUTSIDE LIVE OCALA, ONE OF OUR COLDEST SPOTS, SITTING AT 24 AT THIS HOUR. IT’S 28 IN WILDWOOD, 29 IN TITUSVILLE, 27 IN MELBOURNE. YOU FACTOR IN THE WIND CHILL, THOUGH, AND IT FEELS LIKE 19 IN MELBOURNE. SO FOR GOODNESS SAKE, BUNDLE YOURSELF UP, BUNDLE THE KIDS UP. GLOVES, HATS. THE HAIRDO CAN BE A LITTLE MESSY BECAUSE OF THE CHILL. WE’VE GOT TO STAY SAFE. THIS IS JUST NOT FLORIDA WEATHER. SO THIS MORNING, SEVERE WEATHER WARNING THAT GOES THROUGH 9 A.M. BECAUSE OF HOW BITTER THIS COLD IS. THEN THE AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES CLIMB INTO THE MID 50S. WHILE IT’S A TOUCH MILDER, IT’S STILL A CHILLY ONE. OKAY, A LIGHT BREEZE 54. IN THE CITY, 53 DEGREES IN OCALA, 54. DELAND 55 DEGREES IN MELBOURNE. HIGH PRESSURE THOUGH SCOOTS AND AS IT DOES IT TURNS OUR WINDS AROUND. SO FOR TOMORROW INTO WEDNESDAY OUR TEMPERATURES DO START TO CLIMB. AND THEN THURSDAY A FEW SHOWERS WITH A WEAK FRONT THAT WILL DROP TEMPERATURES OFF JUST A LITTLE BIT. SO NOTICE WE’VE GOT THAT LITTLE BIT OF A WARMING TREND. A FEW SHOWERS THURSDAY MORNING, DROPPING OFF A SMIDGE FRIDAY, AND THEN FOR THE WEEKEND. IT’S A BIG WEEKEND MEAGHAN AND I’M HAPP
