Florida State was able to land blue-chip edge Anthony Cavallaro on Friday. He’s the fifth player to pledge the Seminoles in their 2027 class and the third blue-chip prospect to commit.
Cavallaro received an offer from FSU back in November when he took an unofficial visit for the game against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder returned for the first Junior Day event of this month on Jan. 17, and the Seminoles had done enough to separate themselves and earn his commitment by the time he got back to Largo, Florida.
“The four-hour drive on the way back home. Just really thinking and talking to my mom about the whole thing. It’s just, we both felt the same way. … It feels different here,” Cavallaro told Warchant.
Cavallaro is the No. 333 player nationally and the No. 30 edge according to the Rivals industry rankings. In the state of Florida, Cavallaro is the No. 33 prospect.
2025 was a very successful year for Cavallaro. He finished with 60 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries for Indian Rocks Christian School.
Snagging Cavallaro was big for Florida State as a whole, and it was also huge for new edge coach Nick Williams. They have four-star edges Jalen Anderson and Jaemin Pinckney signed in the 2026 class, plus three-star signees Chris Carbin and Cam Brooks, who have a ton of potential. This overhaul of talent sets a very nice foundation for the edge position going forward in Tallahassee.
With Cavallaro now on board, FSU can focus on some of the other elite edge talent they have their eyes on in the 2027 cycle. In-state target Frederick Ards named Florida State in his top five schools and will attend their Junior Day event this weekend. Plus, the Seminoles had several members of their coaching staff visit KJ Green, a standout from the state of Georgia.
