MIAMI (Gray News) – The family of the mom found dead in a Miami Dollar Tree freezer alleges the manager didn’t help find her after being told she was missing, according to a lawsuit.
According to Miami police, officers arrived at the Dollar Tree on Southwest Eighth Street at 8 a.m. after an employee called and said there was a dead woman inside the store, CBS News reported.
Miami police said 32-year-old Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez walked into the store before it closed, didn’t buy anything and then went to a freezer in the back storage room, where she spent the night, WFTV reported.

Sanchez was found by an employee in the morning.
The suit alleges Sanchez became trapped in the freezer and that Dollar Tree was negligent in failing to prevent her from accessing the freezer.
The suit also alleges the manager was “placed on actual notice” that Sanchez was missing and hadn’t exited the store, NBC 6 reported.
The manager was allegedly asked by a customer to “review available surveillance footage” to try and locate Sanchez, according to the lawsuit. But he allegedly refused
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Sanchez’s husband and two children, seeks a jury trial and damages over $50 million.
