JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Amazon Air has reached an agreement with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to establish an air cargo hub at Jacksonville International Airport. Operations are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to our news partners at the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The company plans to lease the 50,000-square-foot Air Cargo Building Four at 14200 Pecan Park Road for package storage and processing, according to a news release.
Launched in 2016, Amazon Air is the online retailer’s dedicated cargo airline. Its fleet includes Boeing 737s, 767s and Airbus A330s, serving more than 70 distribution centers nationwide. The service was formerly known as Prime Air, a name that still appears on its planes and logo.
“This location represents the company’s first air cargo location in NE Florida and will further grow and support Amazon’s current logistics and distribution network in Jacksonville,” the Jacksonville Aviation Authority said.
Currently, the nearest Amazon Air facility is in Tampa, where shipments are flown in and then trucked to Jacksonville.
Amazon will occupy the entire building, which previously housed tenants such as Emery Worldwide Airlines and Forward Air. JDR writes that lease terms were not disclosed.
Amazon operates 12 facilities in Jacksonville, including fulfillment centers, sortation centers, a heavy bulk freight center and delivery stations. The company opened its first local fulfillment centers in 2017, supported by $26.7 million in city and state incentives tied to job creation.
