Stephen Ross is now part of a team launching Ambition Accelerated, a new initiative aiming to attract businesses to Florida by promoting its opportunities and advantages.
“We see this as really the place for opportunity,” Ross said.
Ross, founder of Related Companies and Related Ross, and Ken Griffin, founder of the Citadel hedge fund, have pledged $10 million for the initiative, which will involve working with CEOs across the country to encourage them to relocate their businesses to Florida.

“I think what Florida has today here in South Florida, it will attract the type of talent that they’re looking for,” Ross said.
Eric Silagy, vice chairman of Related Ross, highlighted Florida’s appeal.
“It’s a great place to live. It’s a great place to work. It’s more affordable. We have no state income tax,” Silagy said.
Ambition Accelerated will operate through the Florida Council of 100, which represents the CEOs of the state’s largest companies.
Mike Simas, president and CEO of the Florida Council of 100, said the business community is proactively promoting Florida’s business environment.
“The business community is getting out ahead of that now and making sure people understand the business environment is here,” Simas said.
Ross believes that the traditional advice to “go West, young man” is outdated, suggesting instead, “Go Southeast, go to Florida. I think that’s going to be the mantra of this period of time.”
Officials have reported that four companies have already expressed interest in the initiative.
Although they have not disclosed the names of these companies, they said they believe this is just the beginning of a larger movement.
