The proposal is now under review by the village, and the first public hearing on the proposal might be held before the village Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board in March.

Nelson Ferreira, whose name is also associated with the nationwide firm Ferreira Construction, submitted details of the proposal to the village. Ferreira could not be reached for comment.

Here are five things to know about the proposal:

∎ The 2.2 million square feet would be spread across five two-story buildings at 13820 Silver Fox Lane.

∎ The center may employ 400 people as soon as June 2027, according to materials submitted by Ferreira.

∎ Construction of the data center and associated buildings would occur in three phases. The data center would be built in Phase I and four two-story buildings, totaling 1.8 million square feet, would be built in Phases II and III.

∎ Owners of the data center would be required to pay for the electricity needed to run it, Florida Power & Light Co.

∎ Following the hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Village Council must hold two public hearings on the matter before final approval is granted and construction can begin.
