FORT MYERS, Fla. (WWSB) – A Cape Coral man has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for threatening to kill President Donald Trump, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Christopher Davies, 32, wrote a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution saying he had “orchestrated the most daring presidential assassination that this country has ever seen,” and that “Donald J. Trump must perish.”
Prosecutors said during questioning by the U.S. Secret Service, Davies admitted to writing the letter and explained that he wanted to kill the president.
When asked, hypothetically, what he would do if President Trump was near him, Davies claimed that he would attempt to kill him with his bare hands.
Davies pleaded guilty on Oct. 29, 2025.
