FORT MYERS, Fla.—A Cape Coral man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for making several assassination threats towards the President of the United States.

Christopher Davies, 32, was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to his charges on October 29, 2025.

According to the Department of Justice, Davies wrote a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution stating that he had “orchestrated the most daring Presidential assassination that this country has ever seen,” and that “Donald J. Trump must perish.”

When questioned by the U.S. Secret Service, Davies admitted to writing the letter and wanted to kill President Trump.

Further questioning found that if placed in a hypothetical situation, Davies admitted that if he were in the vicinity of the president, he would attempt to kill him with his bare hands.

Davies was arrested in 2012 for the same reason, threatening to kill then-President Barack Obama.
