Traffic crash with injuries shuts down section of U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A crash that left at least one person injured shut down a busy stretch of U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Fort Pierce Police Department, all northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 1 from Avenue M to Avenue H, near Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery, are closed while emergency crews respond. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and expect delays as officers work the scene.

Police said the crash involved a motorcycle. No additional details about the crash or the extent of the injuries were released.

At this time, drivers are expected to seek alternate routes like N 25th Street.
