Residents in unincorporated Lee County are reminded of the one-day-a-week watering schedule starting Feb. 1 through May to conserve water and protect the aquifer.

Odd-numbered addresses may water on Saturdays and even-numbered addresses on Sundays, with no watering allowed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Lee Board of County Commissioners revised the water conservation ordinance in 2024 due to drought-like conditions from the 2025 rainy season. Declining water levels in aquifers have prompted Lee County to work with the South Florida Water Management District to raise awareness.

Residents are urged to follow local ordinances restricting lawn irrigation, which can account for 50% of household water use. Violating these rules can lead to warnings and fines, though the focus remains on education.
