There might not be a trickier decision from any team this offseason than what the Miami Dolphins have to do with their quarterback room.

What they decide will have massive implications for the rest of the roster and the future of the franchise. Do they stick with Tua Tagovailoa or move on from the QB who’ll cost them nearly $100 million over two years?
Kevin Patra of NFL.com is urging the Dolphins to solve this issue as soon as possible this offseason. While there isn’t a clear path forward, this issue is one the team needs to figure out before making any other long-term plans.
Dolphins urged to solve QB issue ASAP this offseason
“With a new front office and coaching staff, cutting Tua would be costly – $99.2 million spread over two years – but might be the best for all parties in the long term,” Patra writes.

Moving on from Tagovailoa this offseason will be easier said than done, thanks to the incredibly expensive contract penalties that would hit the Dolphins by cutting or trading him.
No team will want to take on Tagovailoa’s contract this offseason, so the Dolphins will need to eat a huge chunk of money for a year or two, like the Denver Broncos did, to move forward as a franchise.
Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley will be in charge of rebuilding the Dolphins are starting this offseason, and moving on from Tagovailoa is the most important move on the docket.

Knowing how much he will cost the Dolphins is the most important thing to figure out this offseason for Miami. Patra is urging the Dolphins to solve this dilemma, and doing so as soon as possible would be in the best interest of everyone involved.
Tagovailoa would be able to try and find a new home as soon as possible, potentially even beating out most other free agents. And the Dolphins would be able to get a better idea of their contract commitments for the next few years.
For Sullivan and Hafley, knowing how much money they have to work with this offseason will be huge for the team. Making a Tagovailoa decision later in the offseason will make the start difficult to manage.
This Tagovailoa decision, and what the team plans to do at quarterback, needs to be the very first decision the team makes this offseason.
