The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was in his late 20s.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man riding a minibike was killed in a crash along West Beaver Street in Jacksonville early Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford said the crash occurred around 6 a.m. at the West Beaver Street-Lane Avenue intersection.

According to Hungerford, the man, who was in his late 20s, was riding a black minibike westbound on Beaver Street.

Hungerford said another man who was driving a Ford F-150 was stopped at a red light going eastbound on West Beaver Street, as he was waiting to turn northbound on Lane Avenue.

The light changed to a green turn arrow for the man who was driving the Ford, Hungerford said. The man reportedly told police that as he turned, the man on the minibike collided with the front of the Ford.

Paramedics then responded to the scene and pronounced the minibike rider dead, according to Hungerford.

The driver of the Ford F-150 remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

“The minibike is not licensed to be operated on the roadway,” Hungerford said. “The rider was not wearing a helmet.”

This crash marks as the 17th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2026.
