TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Elementary students across Florida could soon be required to learn to write and read in cursive.
The House unanimously passed a bill requiring students to be proficient in cursive. It requires cursive instruction for students in grades 2 through 5.
More Florida politics:
Fifth graders would be required to pass a test showing they can read and write in cursive.
The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration. If the bill becomes law, the requirements will be in place for the next school year.
