TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – The Senate unanimously passed a bill that requires local governments to adopt an ordinance allowing accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, in single-family neighborhoods.
ADUs can be a wide range of things, from a mother-in-law suite to a guest house. Lawmakers see this as an opportunity to create more affordable housing options to the state.
More Florida politics:
Many cities already have ordinances on the books regulating ADUs.
The bill now heads to the House, where it died during last year’s regular session.
