After a local jewelry store was burglarized in St. Pete, police say they have arrested one person, and another suspect remains at large.
The St. Pete Police Department said Wednesday that Savon Hunter, 32, was arrested for allegedly being involved in the burglary of Old Northeast Jewelers, located at 1131 4th Street North.
According to detectives, during the early morning of Jan. 28, Hunter, along with another suspect, broke into the store when it was closed through the back door using a hammer.
“The burglars stole about $45,000 in jewelry and a gun,” detectives said, adding that Hunter was located and arrested Tuesday.
Hunter is now facing several charges for his alleged involvement in the burglary, including: “armed burglary, dealing in stolen property, false verification of ownership, possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), and driving with a suspended license with knowledge.”
Detectives note that the second suspect remains at large and urge anyone in the public with information to contact the St. Pete Police Department at 727-893-7780 or by texting SPPD along with information to TIP411.
