Public school advocates are calling on lawmakers to strengthen public education rather than abandon it. Florida Education Association’s Andrew Spar says our laws are making it harder for schools to meet their constitutional requirement to educate every child in the state. Spar says enrollment is down and dropping. He blames the affordability crisis, school vouchers and immigration enforcement. Florida teachers rank 50th in the nation for pay.
