Montverde Academy and Lake Highland are on a collision course to meet again for a girls soccer region title and state final four berth, but first both have to win Monday home games.

Region semifinals for Class 1A through 3A teams are Monday for girls and Tuesday for boys.

Montverde (17-1-1), No. 1 in the FHSAA 3A rankings, scored a 3-0 win against sixth-ranked Lake Highland in a Jan. 27 district final. Last year the Highlanders lost to Montverde twice in regular season play but won their region final matchup on the way to a state runner-up finish. This year’s LHP team is less experienced.

Lake Highland’s boys team is 14-2-1 and ranked No. 2 in 3A, was the state runner-up last year and is once again a prime contender to win it all.

The big school (4A-7A) quarterfinals are this week, Thursday for girls and Friday for boys.
