TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – Florida lawmakers are working to curb obesity in the state.
They proposed a bill that would treat and prevent obesity through therapy and weight loss medication. The proposal would also lower the cost of the medication.
More Florida politics:
Rep. Susan Valdes, R-Tampa, said the bill is tailored for state employees and families.
“They deserve an opportunity to become healthier and realize that obesity is a chronic disease. As well as the importance of serving, you can’t serve if you’re not healthy,” Valdes said.
So far, the bill hasn’t been scheduled for a hearing in either chamber.
