TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Property taxes are one step closer to becoming more transparent for home buyers across Florida.
A Senate committee approved a bill that requires estimated property taxes to be included on home listings. The state will also have to create a website linking to every county’s property appraiser’s website.
More Florida politics:
Miami-Dade County appraiser Tomas Regalado said the idea is to ensure people are aware of the potential costs of owning a home.
“What you’re doing here is not only transparency, but restoring trust of the people in government,” Regalado said.
The Senate and House versions of this bill each have one more committee before a full vote.
