Deadly crash in San Marco at Nira Street and Kings Avenue (WJXT)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man died early Friday morning when the SUV he was driving overturned and crashed into a utility pole at Nira Street and Kings Avenue.
The crash was first reported around 3:45 a.m., forcing the closure of portions of Nira Street and Kings Avenue.
A News4JAX crew was able to see a red-colored SUV on its roof up against the pole, which had snapped and fallen onto the vehicle.
A man was pulled from the vehicle by first responders, but he died at the scene from his injuries.
Nira Street, which is across from the Kings Avenue garage, is closed from Kings Avenue to Hendricks Avenue, and part of Kings Avenue was also blocked early Friday morning.
News4JAX will update when the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shares more information at a briefing this morning at 6:05 a.m.
