TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A new 40,000 square foot tech and science facility in Innovation Park is helping local entrepreneurs turn their ideas into reality while boosting the local economy in the process.
IGNITE Tallahassee says they already have three science-based clients at the new facility, developing technology like video platforms for operating rooms and next-generation batteries.
Alissa Costabile, the program director for IGNITE Tallahassee, said the organization’s support for these businesses directly contributes to the local economy.
“It creates more opportunities in your neighborhood in a way that is generally a net positive. So, that is an opportunity if not for your neighbor, maybe for your child for when they grow up, they have the opportunity to stay right here in Tallahassee,” she said. “They can continue to champion their hometown and see a lot of these cool things that are coming up by way of technology, or by way of the company.”

Costabile said IGNITE helps create a positive cycle in the community, boosting people and the economy.
“It’s not just they’re only creating jobs themselves, they work with vendors, they work with community companies. You have more people moving here, spending their dollars at your store or at your restaurant or at your establishment or for your services. So, it’s something that overall proves a net benefit to the community,” she said.
