TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In anticipation of the annual Tallahassee Marathon Sunday, several road closures are set to take effect that day to ensure traffic control.
Various streets and intersections are expected to be closed during both the full and half marathons due to the size of the event, according to the City of Tallahassee.
“All motorists should be aware that runners have the right of way, and traffic will be held as runners cross intersections,” city officials said.

According to the city, the following roads are expected to be closed for the entire duration of the marathon, from 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.:
Woodward Avenue from Gaines Street to St. Augustine StreetMadison Street from Woodward Avenue to Railroad Avenue
Tennessee Street from Monroe Street to Gadsden Street will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
The following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.:
Monroe Street from Apalachee Parkway to Tennessee StreetEast Pensacola Street from Calhoun Street to Monroe StreetJefferson Street from Calhoun Street to Monroe StreetCollege Avenue from Calhoun Street to Monroe StreetPark Avenue from Calhoun Street to Monroe StreetCall Street from Calhoun Street to Monroe Street
“The Marathon and Half Marathon routes begin on Monroe Street near the Leon County Courthouse and travel through downtown, Midtown, and surrounding neighborhoods, passing along Thomasville Road, Betton Hills, Cascades Park, Myers Park, Florida A&M University, and the Capital Cascades and Lake Elberta trail systems, among other areas, before finishing on Madison Street,” per the city.
