The surprise announcement drew gasps and cheers throughout the ballroom at the annual Breakthrough T1D Tampa gala: Speer Dream Foundation was committing $1 million to advance the treatment, prevention and soon, cures, for Type 1 diabetes. The milestone gift pushed the evening’s total beyond $1.4 million for the world’s leading Type 1 diabetes research, education and advocacy organization, uniting the 200 guests celebrating the ultimate mission: turning Type 1 into Type None. The Rozelle family, this year’s Fund a Cure Champions, and the Rudd family, supporters for decades, were the Nov. 22, 2025, gala honorees at the Hilton Tampa Downtown.
