Construction project along Orange Avenue & Kaley Street

  • February 6, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – On today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol, we took Results-1 out to Orange Avenue in the City of Orlando, right near the SODO District, to check out some roadway and pedestrian improvements that wrapped up around the middle of last year.

If you’ve driven through this area anytime recently, you’ve probably noticed it looks a little different and that’s exactly why we wanted to take a closer look. Construction in this corridor has been ongoing for quite some time, and with projects finally wrapping up, it was time to see how those upgrades are working in the real world.

From my point of view, the overall appearance of the area looks noticeably better. The city focused on improving pedestrian safety, adding additional parallel parking spaces and restructuring portions of the roadway to better balance vehicle and foot traffic. These are the types of improvements that help support local businesses and make busy corridors more accessible for everyone.

Now, while the upgrades are certainly a step in the right direction, I did notice one thing that stood out to me. The pedestrian safety improvements are great, but they only work if pedestrians actually use them. Crosswalks, designated walking areas and traffic calming features are designed to keep people safe, but they rely heavily on personal responsibility.

It’s one of those reminders that safety on our roadways isn’t just about engineering or enforcement, it’s about education and individual decision-making. Drivers have to stay alert and yield when required and pedestrians need to use the tools built for their protection.

I’ll also be honest with you, while the infrastructure improvements look good, there are still some areas that could benefit from a little cleanup. Keeping corridors like this tidy helps maintain the welcoming atmosphere city planners are working toward.

At the end of the day, traffic is definitely present along this stretch of Orange Avenue, which shows the area continues to grow and stay active. These types of upgrades are designed to prepare for that growth while improving safety for everyone who travels through the corridor.

And as always, if there’s a traffic concern or roadway project you want me to check out in your neighborhood, feel free to reach out. You never know where Results-1 might roll next.
