LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Travelers passing through Southwest Florida International Airport will experience a change in their journey.

A new temporary TSA security checkpoint for Concourse C became fully operational this week.

Passengers at RSW will go through TSA as usual, but once through, they will encounter long walkways leading directly to their gates.

These walkways also lead to new amenities, including vending concessions called Evolve Eats and a dining area. For those landing at RSW, the walkways will guide them to baggage claim.

This development is part of Phase One of the terminal expansion project at RSW.

“Once this is done, and those that first group of nine on the other side open up, you’ll have full connectivity to all of our concourses through that one checkpoint, whereas today you’re kind of limited to where you’re at,” said Steven Hennigan, executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “Also coming online when those nine open up in about two, two and a half years, is all the new concessions, not only on the concourses, but right behind where all that work is going.”

RSW officials said this setup is temporary and is expected to be in place for the next two years.
