An evening of glitz, glamour, for guests who will be heralded as kings and queens is a week away as the Night to Shine Prom prepares to deliver a night to remember.
The prom hosted in partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation, will take place at Immanuel Baptist Church in the Family Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 13.
Guest registration for the free event closes end of day Feb. 6. Attendees must be at least 14 years old, and volunteers must be at least 18.
Last year the event faced a hiccup and was briefly cancelled after a venue swap happened. This year it is slated to go off without a hitch.
Nicole Whitfield, the entertainment coordinator with Shine Tallahassee, said more than 700 guests are expected to attend the prom this year, and for each guest there is one “buddy” assigned to accompany them for the party. They are volunteers or friends and family members.
“This year it’s going to be bigger and better, more organized, more details along with the usual stuff like the red carpet, dancing, food, the limo and the party bus,” Whitfield said.

Friends and family enjoy ‘Night to Shine,’ a celebratory and inclusive prom experience for people with disabilities at Immanuel Baptist Church Friday, Feb. 7 2025.
This year there will be four DJs, and two karaoke rooms. Cheerleaders from Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Lincoln High School will be in attendance along with volunteers dressed as Disney Princesses and characters.
Volunteer registration will be open through Feb. 10, Whitfield said. She said there is a high demand for more buddies to accompany guests.
