An upcoming event will support The Sanibel School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).
The Mardi Gras Pancake Supper will take place on Feb. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel — a festive evening of food and community.
“This is a fun, family-friendly way to mark Mardi Gras,” organizers shared. “Good food, good company and a great cause.”
It will feature pancakes made from Perkins batter, toppings such as chocolate chips, blueberries and 100% Vermont maple syrup, and sausages. Attendees can also partake in some ice cream treats.
In addition, they will be greeted with Mardi Gras beads and music when they arrive.
Saint Michael’s is covering all of the expenses, with free will donations accepted for the meal.
The proceeds will benefit the NJHS students by helping them attend the 2026 LEAD conference on Feb. 27 through March 1 in Washington, D.C. Organizers noted that it is the premier, national leadership event for middle and high school youths and advisers to develop student leadership skills.
Founded in 1929, the NJHS recognizes and encourages academic achievement, while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. Students focus on the ideals of scholarship, character, service, citizenship and leadership. The Sanibel NJHS serves the school and community through activities, including a Food and Diaper Drive, beach cleanup, school dance, BOO grams, and assisting teachers and students.
The community is encouraged to come out.
“Bring friends and neighbors and come ready to enjoy the spirit of the season,” organizers shared.
