TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Amid nationwide student protests, Chiles High School students held their own demonstration Friday to protest ICE.
About 30 students marched from the school to nearby Bannerman Crossing, holding signs and protesting at the busy intersection of Bannerman and Thomasville roads.
While some passing drivers honked in support, others shouted in opposition from their cars.
The walkout was held during students’ lunch period, and did not disrupt school activities.
Chiles’ walkout is at least the third protest held at a local high school this week. Lincoln held a protest on Monday, and Valdosta held a protest on Wednesday.
Some Leon High students told WCTV they plan to walk out next Friday.
