Icon Racing’s KOKOMOTION (f, 3, Quality Road–Zee Drop, by Lemon Drop Kid) sustained a run for the better part of five furlongs to open her account at first asking by 6 1/4 lengths two-turning over the Tampa turf course Saturday afternoon.

Away fairly from a middle stall, the bay filly–off at just under 11-1 from a 15-1 morning line–trailed the field passing the stands for the first time and maintained that position exiting the first turn. Despite a tempo that was par at worst, Kokomotion was felt for by Jevian Toledo with the better part of the backstretch to traverse, and she steadily improved her position, without expending too much energy to do so, to be within striking distance from about fifth as they hit the second bend.

A menacing presence three or four deep on the turn, Kokomotion was roused to the front in upper stretch and found even more gears in the final furlong and a half to score impressively.

Runner-up in the GIII Goldikova Stakes on the turf, Zee Drop was purchased by Gage Hill and W. S. Farish for $400,000 in foal to Medaglia d’Oro at Keeneland November in 2021 and Kokomotion is her first runner. A daughter of GSP Ash Zee (Exchange Rate), Zee Drop is also represented by a yearling colt by Lane’s End’s Up to The Mark that made $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale and she was bred back to the same stallion last season.
