STANLEY, N.D. (KMOT) – Stanley Police arrested a Florida man Thursday after investigators say he stabbed a crew member and punched a passenger on an Amtrak train.
According to an affidavit, Amtrak notified dispatch in Stanley on Thursday night that they needed a drunk man who had started a fight removed from the train.
Investigators said the man, identified as 36-year-old Jared Long, was swinging punches at passengers. A crew member told police he pulled Long off of another passenger, at which point Long pushed him down the aisle of the train car and struck him several times in the arm with a knife.
The affidavit states the train conductor finally subdued Long with pepper spray.
Another passenger suffered injuries after a witness said Long punched him in the eye and back.
The injured crew member sought medical treatment when the train arrived in Minot, according to the report.
Long faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. The court set his bond at $2,500, and he’ll appear for his preliminary hearing and arraignment on March 12.
Long did not have an assigned attorney as of Friday afternoon.
