TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida softball team improved to 3-0 with a pair of wins on Saturday, downing (RV) Michigan, 5-1, and Bethune-Cookman, 8-0, at the USF-Rawlings Invitational.
The Gator pitching staff continued to dominate in the circle, allowing just one run and five total hits in 13 innings pitched between the two games.
Keagan Rothrock (2-0) tossed the 39th complete game of her career against the Wolverines, allowing just one run and three hits with seven strikeouts.
Through the first three games of 2026, Florida’s pitchers have recorded two shutouts and allowed just a sole run in 20 innings of work.
Kenleigh Cahalan led the Gators at the plate on Saturday, going a team-best 4-for-6 (.667) with a pair of RBIs on the day, while Gabi Comia drove in a team-high three runs.
NOTABLES:
Jocelyn Erickson hit her first home run of the season, the 31st of her career, in the first inning against Bethune-Cookman, a two-run shot
Ava Brown picked up her first win of the season against the Wildcats, tossing two hit-less innings with a strikeout
Allison Sparkman pinch ran for the first time in her collegiate career, scoring a run vs. Michigan
Madison Walker recorded her second career stolen base against the Wolverines and first since Feb. 18, 2024 vs. North Texas
Through the first three games of the season, Gabi Comia (.625) and Cassidy McLellan (.600) are leading the team in batting average
Comia is also leading the team in slugging percentage (.875). Of her five hits, two have been doubles
Florida’s six-inning victory over Bethune-Cookman was the first run-rule victory of the season
Collegiate firsts:
On an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth against Michigan, Townsen Thomas recorded her first career hit, first career RBI and first career double with one swing
The redshirt freshman went 2-for-3 at the plate against the Wolverines, the first multi-hit outing of her career
She also recorded her first career sacrifice fly against Bethune-Cookman
In her first collegiate at-bat against Bethune-Cookman, Kalie Matsuno recorded an RBI single
